Astro picks up squash rights deal

Malaysian pay-television operator Astro has acquired rights for the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour.

The deal with the PSA will run for three years, from 2015 to 2017, and has been signed in conjunction with the Broadreach Media agency.

Astro will show live action from the World Tour, with Malaysian stars playing a prominent role in women’s squash.

Nicol David (pictured) recently claimed an eighth World Championship title and is on a nine-year run as women's world No.1, while the likes of Wee Wern Low and Ong Beng Hee are also amongst the upper echelons of the sport.

“Having already worked closely with Astro over the past five years we are delighted to be continuing our partnership with them,” PSA chief executive Alex Gough said.

“With the likes of Nicol David pioneering the sport at present, Astro's coverage will only serve to help Malaysia's growing squash scene continue to thrive and we are delighted to be able to bring the action from the PSA World Tour direct to millions of households across the region.”
