The Formula E electric car-racing series has awarded its production contract for the four seasons spanning 2017-18 to 2020-21 to a co-venture between existing partner Aurora Media Worldwide and North One Television.
The new contract was awarded today (Tuesday) after a “highly competitive” three-month tender process. From an original list of 12, Formula E shortlisted three bidders to a final stage and ultimately awarded the deal to the venture between North One and incumbent producer Aurora.
Aurora Media Worldwide became media partner and host broadcaster to Formula E when the series launched in 2013. North One will add its factual entertainment expertise to the programming of Formula E in the coming years.
Its chief executive, Neil Duncanson, will join Aurora managing director Lawrence Duffy as co-executive producers.
From next season, Formula E will instigate a major uplift in output with expanded host coverage including new virtual and augmented reality innovations, vastly more on-board footage and other special cameras features. Innovative shoulder programming will also be a priority.
