All three of the main Australian television networks are expected to be allowed to bid for free-to-air rights to the National Rugby League, with the Australian Rugby League Commission said to be looking to capitalise on the improvement of broadcasters’ financial position.
It comes after the NRL’s incumbent broadcast partner Nine held early-stage talks with ARLC chairman Peter V’landys and NRL chief executive Andrew Abdo last week, proposing an extension of their current rights deal, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
