Pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport has agreed a live rights deal for the inaugural British Darts Organisation World Trophy, which takes place next month.
Under the deal, brokered by the BDO’s commercial partner BDO Events, the BDO World Trophy will be shown on Eurosport 1 and British Eurosport throughout the competition.
The tournament runs from February 5-9 in Blackpool, England and is the first in a series of events culminating in the BDO’s Super Series in July. The winner of the World Trophy will gain automatic entry for the BDO's World Masters and Lakeside World Championships.
Scott Newhouse, managing director at BDO Events, said: “Eurosport is a key partner for us. Their experience and live coverage will contribute hugely to the international fame of our new tournament and is testimony to how the World Trophy is already being recognised by the darts world.”
