BeIN Sport seals Canadian carriage deal

Pay-television broadcaster beIN Sport, which is owned by Qatari pay-television broadcaster Al Jazeera, is set to launch on Canadian cable and satellite television after securing a strategic and exclusive partnership with media company Ethnic Channels Group.

A broadcasting, distribution and communications company, specialising in multicultural television channels for the North American market, Ethnic Channels Group will also supply content from beIN Sport’s Spanish language channel, beIN Sport en Espanol.

Yousef Al-Obaidly, managing director of beIN Sport, said: “BeIN Sport has assembled exclusive coverage of some of the greatest international sporting events in the world. Our partnership with Ethnic Channels Group will help build a profitable business in Canada through better distribution and interactivity with consumers.”
