BeIN Media Group has acquired exclusive rights in Spain for the 2015-16 season of the Primeira Liga, the top division of football in Portugal.
BeIN said its pay-television channel beIN Sports will broadcast the Primeira Liga’s best games every weekend, along with a highlights programme on Mondays.
The Primeira Liga is set to assume additional significance in Spain this season with the arrival of Real Madrid and Spanish national team icon Iker Casillas (pictured) at FC Porto. BeIN Sports’ Primeira Liga coverage will commence with Casillas’ league debut for Porto as his new club takes on Vitória Guimarães on Saturday.
The addition of the Primeira Liga further bolsters beIN Media’s football portfolio in Spain, which already includes the Uefa Champions League and Europa League, English Premier League, Italy’s Serie A, France’s Ligue 1 and the Copa Libertadores.
