Final broadcast deals signed ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, which get under way tonight in Birmingham, have delivered typically strong exposure in competing nations topped up by deals in a handful of non-participating countries and regions.
The bulk of the media rights revenue is sure to come from deals negotiated some time ago in the likes of Australia (with Seven Network), New Zealand and the Pacific Islands (with Sky New Zealand), and the UK (with the BBC), plus recent agreements struck in Canada (with CBC) and the Indian subcontinent (with Sony).
