BT, Sky to ‘resume business subscriptions at reduced rates’

UK pay-television broadcasters BT Sport and Sky are reportedly poised to resume charging commercial customers, but at a reduced rate, amid the restart of competitions after Covid 19-related lockdown.

BT Sport will retain its subscription pause for commercial customers in July, but restart charges from August, albeit at discounted rates until the end of the year.

The telco will then grant its commercial customers a 70-per-cent discount in August that will decline by 10 percentage points each month until the end of the year, with normal rates resuming from 2021.

UK commercial premises that are due to reopen on Saturday, July 4 after the government eased lockdown restrictions.

Meanwhile, Sky is reported to be offering a 50-per-cent discount from when these premises reopen until the end of August.

BT and Sky have paused subscriptions for commercial premises since mid-March when live sport was suspended globally due to the pandemic.
