BT Sport picks up Speedway World Championship rights

UK pay-television broadcaster BT Sport has agreed a three-season deal for exclusive rights to the International Motorcycling Federation’s (FIM) Speedway World Championship series.

Under the deal covering the UK and Ireland, BT Sport will broadcast both the Speedway Grand Prix and the Speedway World Cup from the 2016 season through to 2018.

BT Sport agreed the deal with BSI Speedway, an IMG company and rights-holder of the Speedway World Championships

BT Sport’s live coverage and highlights packages will be produced by the IMG agency.

Britain’s Tai Woffinden (pictured) is the reigning champion of the Speedway World Championship.
