Canal Plus nets Club World Cup rights

French pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus has acquired rights to the 2015 Fifa Club World Cup football competition.

This year’s Club World Cup is being staged in Japan and Canal Plus will broadcast a total of eight matches from the tournament, which runs from December 10-20.

The Club World Cup is competed for by the winners of the six continental football competitions and the current champion of the host nation.

Spanish LaLiga club Real Madrid won last year’s tournament in Morocco, with rival Barcelona set to feature in the 2015 competition as winner of the 2014-15 Uefa Champions League.
