Pay-television broadcaster Canal Plus has claimed a first for the Polish market through action that has led to the disabling of online portals offering pirated content, and their subsequent repurposing as platforms to promote its offering.
Canal Plus said that as part of internet monitoring activity conducted by the broadcaster’s dedicated anti-piracy arm, Piractwem Canal+ Polska, and other agencies, it was detected that through websites operating at the addresses rapidu.net, darkw.pl and freshfile.pl, managed by the same administrator, users were sharing a “significant amount” of content, including films and series to which it owns the rights.
