Caracol extends Colombia national team rights

Colombian commercial broadcaster Caracol has renewed a rights deal to show coverage of the country’s national football team.

The agreement will cover Colombia’s qualifying matches ahead of the 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar, as well as friendly games.

Caracol will also be able to show national youth team matches and games featuring the Colombia national women’s team.

According to the El Espectador news website, the deal with the Federación Colombiana de Fútbol is worth a total of $40m (€32m) over four years, from 2018-19 to 2021-22.

Caracol has broadcast Colombia national team matches for more than 25 years and will show the 2018 World Cup in Russia. At the tournament, Colombia has been drawn in the same group as Japan, Poland and Senegal.
