CBC Sports picks up Canoe Sprint World Cup rights

The CBC Sports division of Canadian public-service broadcaster CBC has secured rights for this year’s edition of the International Canoe Federation’s Canoe Sprint World Cup.

CBC Sports will broadcast live coverage of events in Duisberg, Germany; Racice, Czech Republic; and Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, via its television platforms.

Coverage will also be streamed live via the CBCsports.ca website, as well as the broadcaster’s CBC Sports mobile application.

The World Cup events come ahead of the canoe competitions that will take place at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, this summer.

The partnership also provides a framework for CBC and the Canoe Kayak Canada national governing body to work together and share content such as highlights of the canoe slalom World Cups, qualifier events and athlete stories. Such content will be made available on various broadcast and digital platforms.
