CBS targets NFL streaming rights for digital service

US network CBS is hoping to secure streaming rights for American football’s NFL for the coverage to be shown on its CBS All Access broadband service, according to magazine Variety .

CBS chief executive Leslie Moonves told investors that the network would like to exploit the rights via the service from the start of the 2016-17 season.

CBS has rights for coverage of NFL games on Sunday afternoons, with some Thursday night games only available on television.

CBS All Access launched in 2014, allowing subscribers to watch current and classic programmes on the network.
