Chicago Fire extends local TV rights deal

Major League Soccer club Chicago Fire has signed a one-year extension to its local television rights partnership with WPWR My50 Chicago covering the 2014 MLS season.

Last season was the first time that all Fire games were broadcast locally on one channel through My50, an initiative that will continue for 2014.

In addition to the 26 matches available on My50 Chicago, the Fire will appear on national broadcast partners NBC Sports Network (four games), ESPN (one game), ESPN2 (two games), Univision Deportes (one game) and UniMas (five games).

Time Warner Cable SportsChannel is the Fire’s broadcast partner in the state of Wisconsin and will also carry 23 regionally televised games in 2014.

The Chicago Fire kicks off its 2014 season with a trip to the Portland Timbers on March 16.
