Commercial broadcasters pick-up rights to Uruguay’s Copa America defence

Uruguayan commercial broadcasters Teledoce, Saeta TV and Monte Carlo TV have acquired rights to the 2015 Copa America national team football tournament, according to multiple media reports in the country.

Uruguayan newspaper El Observador said the broadcasters, representing Canal 12, Canal 10 and Canal 4, respectively, agreed deals with the Full Play agency, the commercial rights-holder of this year’s Copa America, which takes place in Chile from June 11 to July 4.

Saeta TV told El Observador that Canal 10 will broadcast 12 games during the tournament, including Uruguay’s three group stage games against Jamaica, Argentina and Paraguay.

Canal 10 will also cover other games in Uruguay’s Group B, along with some featuring Brazil in Group C. Further coverage will depend on Uruguay’s progress in the tournament.

Uruguay is the reigning Copa America champion and commences its title defence against Jamaica on June 13.
