Cox deal furthers beIN Sport’s reach in Canada

Pay-television broadcaster beIN Sport, which is owned by Qatari pay-television broadcaster Al Jazeera, has furthered its reach in the Canadian market by agreeing a carriage deal with pay-television operator Cox Communications.

Effective immediately, Cox customers who subscribe to the El Mix, Latino Pak and/or the Sports & Info Pak will be able to view beIN Sport and the broadcaster’s Spanish language channel beIN Sport en Espanol. Later this month, the TV Everywhere live event broadband service, beIN Sport Play, will be made available for authenticated Cox customers.

The agreement comes after beIN Sport last week sealed a deal to launch on Canadian cable and satellite television through a strategic partnership with media company Ethnic Channels Group.

A broadcasting, distribution and communications company, specialising in multicultural television channels for the North American market, Ethnic Channels Group is also supplying content from beIN Sport en Espanol.
