Cyfrowy Polsat and RASP enter into Polish sports partnership

Polish media and telecommunications group Cyfrowy Polsat, its television channel Polsat Sport and media company Grupa Onet-Ringier Axel Springer Polska have entered into an exclusive distribution agreement for sports content.

Under the partnership, terms of which were undisclosed, sports content produced by Polsat and video-on-demand service IPLA will be shown by the Onet and Onet-RASP services.

The agreement was signed to tie in with the start of the 2016 European Men’s Handball Championship, which is being hosted in Poland and commenced on January 15.

Maciej Stec, board member of Cyfrowy Polsat and Telewizja Polsat, said: “Thanks to the wide reach of the Polsat Sport, Polsat Sport Extra and Polsat Sport News channels, as well as the Onet portal and editorial production experience of Polsat Sport, Polsatsport.pl and IPLA.tv, viewers and internet users will have access to the highest quality content and most important sporting events.

“We combine excellent knowledge of the television and internet markets held by the Cyfrowy Polsat group with Onet-RASP’s experience in the production and publication of sporting material and sale of advertising space.”
