DAZN extends NFL rights deal

DAZN, the OTT service operated by digital sport media company Perform, has extended its rights deal with American football league the NFL in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Terms of the extension were not disclosed, but DAZN had held a three-year rights deal running from 2016 to 2018.

DAZN shows five games per week during the regular season, four of which are broadcast live. DAZN also carries the NFL RedZone service and NFL Network, the league-owned cable and satellite television channel.

In addition, DAZN users have the option to choose between the German and the original US commentary on selected games, such as the Super Bowl.

DAZN commenced its NFL coverage for the 2018 season with the NFL Draft, which opened at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas yesterday (Thursday).
