DD Sports takes summer Universiade to India

DD Sports, the free-to-air channel operated by Indian public-service broadcaster Doordarshan, has secured the live rights to the 2015 summer Universiade multi-sports event held in Gwangju, South Korea.

DD Sports will provide more than 180 hours of coverage from the university sports showpiece from July 3-14.

The channel’s broadcasts from Gwangju 2015 will begin at 6am Indian time and run until 9.30pm.

The Universiade follows DD Sports’ acquisition of the Asian Racing Championship motorcycling series, with its deputy director Rafeeq Masoodi telling Indiantelevision.com that the broadcaster will target additional sports properties over the coming months.
