DSport to set Indian first with poker coverage

Indian pay-television broadcaster DSport has acquired rights to the Poker Sports League, granting the sport television exposure in the country for the first time.

DSport will show coverage of the league’s second season later this year. Coverage will initially be broadcast in English.

The PSL is India’s first franchise-based poker competition. The second season will feature 12 teams and a prize pool of Rs 3.6 crore (€471,000/$569,000)

The league’s co-founder, Pranav Bagai, said, according to the Rapid TV News website: “Season two aims to multiply PSL’s reach much beyond the online platform in order to connect with every possible poker enthusiast out there. Anybody who knows the ‘P’ of poker can prove his/her skill by qualifying through free live qualifiers or free online qualifiers, which began last month and will continue until March 2018.”
