Close to 170 million hours of live coverage of the 2022 European Championships were viewed in the first six days of the multi-sports event in Munich, according to early data reported by the European Broadcasting Union from eight key markets.

The consortium of public-service broadcasters states that the figures, from August 11 to 16, represent a significant increase on the inaugural 2018 European Championships in Glasgow and Berlin, albeit conceding that direct comparisons are not possible because the line-up of sports is different.
