ESPN acquires Caribbean rights to Euro football championships

Sports broadcaster ESPN agreed a deal with Uefa, European football’s governing body, for the rights in the Caribbean to the 2012 and 2016 European Championships.

Every match from both tournaments will be shown live across the ESPN Caribbean and ESPN2 Caribbean channels. The Disney-owned broadcaster will also show a highlights programme on each match day.

The Euro 2012 tournament will be played out over 31 matches. In 2016 the championships expands from 16 to 24 teams, increasing the number of matches to 51.

The deal includes mobile and internet rights.
