ESPN Brasil set for Wimbledon debut

Pay-television broadcaster ESPN Brasil has acquired rights to Wimbledon, the UK’s grand slam tennis tournament, under a sublicensing deal with the event’s rights-holder in Brazil, pay-television broadcaster Globosat.

The contract runs for the next three years, starting from this year’s championships on June 29 to July 12 and carrying on through the 2016 and 2017 editions.

ESPN Brasil will broadcast live coverage of Wimbledon across its ESPN, ESPN Plus and WatchESPN platforms, along with providing a nightly highlights programme.

The 2015 championships will represent the first time ESPN has broadcast the tournament in Brazil.
