ESPN secures $1.4bn US rights deal with LaLiga through 2028-29

ESPN and LaLiga have finalized a wide-ranging long-term media rights deal that will make streaming service ESPN+ the principal English- and Spanish-language home for Spain's top-flight soccer league in the United States for eight seasons from 2021-22 through 2028-29.

Terms were not disclosed for the deal which begins in August. According to media reports in Spain, and confirmed to the AFP agency, the agreement is worth $175m a year or $1.4bn (€1.16bn) total.
