ESPN to show amateur basketball tournament

US pay-television network ESPN has acquired rights for the 2015 edition of the Basketball Tournament, an amateur, single-elimination competition in the country.

ESPN will broadcast live coverage of the match between defending champion Notre Dame Fighting Alumni and a lower seeded Chicago entrant in the opening game of the Super 17 stage on July 23 via its ESPNU channel.

Organisers of the event will also stream live coverage of the round of 16 games on July 24 before ESPNU broadcasts all four quarter-final games the following day.

Live coverage of both semi-final games and the final match will switch to coverage of ESPN’s primary channel

The 2015 edition of the tournament will feature as many as 96 teams.
