Euroleague confirms extension with Israeli rights-holder

The Sports Channel, the Israeli pay-television broadcaster, has extended a rights deal for the Euroleague Basketball club competition.

The deal runs for six seasons, from 2016-17 to 2021-22, and includes the option for a further three years.

The agreement was first reported by TV Sports Markets on September 2.

The Sports Channel will broadcast more Euroleague games than ever before during the 2016-17 season, with all teams playing each other twice in a round-robin format.

The Sports Channel will also show a weekly Euroleague highlights programme.

Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv will compete in this season’s Euroleague, which gets underway later today (Wednesday).
