European Tour engages in Twitter first with Hero Challenge

Golf’s European Tour will provide live coverage of today’s (Tuesday’s) Hero Challenge event via social media platform Twitter in what is a first for the organisation.

Coverage of the event, which is being held in Dubai, will be available to logged-in and logged-out users and can be found at live.twitter.com/herochallenge or via the @EuropeanTour handle.

The stream will be complemented by a Twitter timeline featuring related real-time conversation to enhance the viewing experience for fans.

The event is also being shown in the UK by pay-television broadcaster Sky.

Today’s event is the third and final Hero Challenge of the European Tour’s 2017 season. It will feature innovative concepts, including a target golf competition that will require players to hit a floating green.

Eight Tour players will take part in an individual head-to-head knockout format, with the winners of the quarter-finals progressing to the semi-finals before the two finalists face off.

The event is being held as part of the DP World Tour Championship Beach Party. The Twitter stream will run for an hour, from 7:30-8:30pm GMT.

The players taking part are current Race to Dubai leader Tommy Fleetwood (pictured), Jon Rahm, Rafa Cabrera Bello, Li Haotong, Francesco Molinari, Alex Noren, Thomas Pieters and Ian Poulter.
