Ex-Nascar executive hired as Motorsport Network CEO

Motorsport Network, the automotive and motorsport digital technology business that operates international motor-racing media platform Motorsport.tv and the Motorsport.com website, has hired Colin Smith as its new chief executive.

Smith (pictured) is a former digital media vice-president at Nascar, the North American stock car-racing series.

Smith said: “The team has built a substantial and successful platform over the past few years and I want to help the business grow through strategic partnerships, acquisitions and new platform launches.

“Motorsport Network already has a substantial domestic and international presence in digital; over-the-top content; television; content creation; and now, car shopping marketplace plus I believe there is much more to come.”

Smith will focus on enhancing Motorsport Network’s digital platforms, according to the company’s chairman, Zak Brown.

International motorsports broadcaster Motors TV rebranded as Motorsport.tv in March following its takeover by Motorsport Network.
