Fanview names European Championships Management’s Bristow as non-executive chairman

Sports media services company Fanview has appointed European Championships Management co-founder and director Paul Bristow as its new non-executive chairman.

Bristow (pictured) co-founded European Championships Management ahead of the inaugural edition of the multi-sport event in 2018, which was co-hosted by Glasgow and Berlin.

Bristow also served as chief operating officer at sports media and technology company Deltatre. Bristow has worked with Fanview’s senior management team in previous roles for over 15 years.

Bristow left Deltatre in 2014 and co-founded ECM alongside Marc Jörg, a former head of sports at the European Broadcasting Union. Bristow had co-founded Deltatre Media, the company’s UK arm, in 2002. He sold his minority share in Deltatre Media to Deltatre in 2016 amid the takeover by Bruin Sports Capital.

Bristow began his career at the IAAF, where he worked as director of television, before joining the Team Marketing agency in 1992 as the Uefa Champions League concept was born.

Fanview has also appointed Spencer Piggott as a special advisor to the board. Piggott currently works as a digital product director for DowJones and has also worked as a technology controller for BBC Sport.

Fanview managing director Jim Irving said: “We’re delighted to welcome Paul and Spencer to the board. Their expertise and experience will be invaluable during a period of important growth for the company and as we look to launch new products and services in 2020.”
