FIVB extends rights deal in key Polish market

The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) has renewed its rights agreement with Polish commercial and pay-television broadcaster Polsat.

The new seven-year deal grants Polsat rights to flagship FIVB events such as the Volleyball Nations League and the Volleyball Challenger Cup.

The agreement also covers the qualification tournaments for the 2020 and 2024 summer Olympic Games, the 2022 World Championships, and the 2019 and 2023 editions of the Volleyball World Cup.

FIVB president Ary Graça said: “Poland is a key market for volleyball and the agreement is a strong indicator that the FIVB’s ongoing push to make the sport more attractive to broadcasters has been well received.

“The agreement coincides with the launch of the inaugural edition of the Volleyball Nations League, which will bring the sport even closer to its fans. It means that Polish spectators will be able to watch high-quality broadcasts of the best of world volleyball during the Volleyball Nations League but also during other major FIVB events.”

The inaugural edition of the Volleyball Nations League will take place from May 15 to July 8.
