FloSports and Eleven acquire rights for women’s softball Olympics qualifier

The World Baseball Softball Confederation has agreed media-rights deals for the women’s softball Asia/Oceania 2020 Summer Olympics qualifier tournament with FloSports in North America and Eleven Sports in Taiwan.

Streaming platform FloSports acquired the exclusive rights for the event in the US and Canada. It will show live coverage of every game.

Eleven Sports Taiwan, which is available on basic-tier pay-television platforms, acquired exclusive rights for all 16 games.

The tournament takes place from September 24-28 in Shanghai, and will be contested by eight teams: Chinese Taipei, Australia, China, New Zealand, Philippines, Korea, Indonesia and Hong Kong. Only the winner will qualify for the Olympics.

In markets where the WBSC has not agreed a media rights deal, all games will be live streamed for free on the WBSC’s OTT platform Game Time and official YouTube channel.

The WBSC recently agreed deals for the Americas qualifier, with FloSports and Canadian public broadcaster CBC, and the Europe/Africa qualifier, with FloSports, Czech public-service broadcaster Czech TV, pay-television broadcaster Sky in Italy, and OTT service LaLigaSportsTV in Spain.
