Flow picks up World Cup qualifiers as C&W confirms Liberty talks

Flow TV, the Caribbean pay-television broadcaster owned by telco Cable & Wireless, has acquired exclusive live rights for football’s Fifa World Cup qualifiers in the region.

Flow TV will show coverage of matches from the Concacaf (North and Central America and Caribbean) region ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The deal does not include US or Mexico national team home games. The agreement will start with round four of the qualifiers on November 13, when Jamaica will host Panama and Guatemala will welcome Trinidad & Tobago.

In other news, Cable & Wireless has confirmed that media company Liberty Global is in talks to acquire the telco. Liberty Global has until November 19 to decide whether to make a formal bid for the company.

Flow TV acquired rights for American football’s NFL last month and will also broadcast football’s English Premier League for three seasons, from 2016-17 to 2018-19.
