Fox CFO suggests network could drop NFL Thursday package

Fox Corp. could elect to drop its Thursday night rights package with the National Football League if bidding becomes too high, the company’s chief financial officer said.

The network is the NFL’s only domestic rights partner to carry two different live game packages. And Steve Tomsic, speaking at the UBS Investor Conference, said if forced to pick between the two, Fox will opt for the Sunday afternoon package that catapulted then-fledging network from relative obscurity in 1993 and has remained a programming bedrock since then.
