Fox Sports picks up college lacrosse

The Fox Sports Media Group division of US network Fox has acquired rights for the Eastern College Athletic Conference lacrosse competition.

The length of the “multi-year” deal was not revealed.

The first games to be covered by the agreement will be the conference’s 2013 semi-finals on May 2 and the final on May 4, with the Fox-owned FSN, Fuel TV and Fox College Sports cable-television channels all providing live coverage.

From the start of the 2014 season, Fox’s new national sports channel, Fox Sports 1, will provide coverage of the lacrosse tournament and will have the opportunity to broadcast a “game of the week.”
