Freesports gains FTA rights in UK to Global T20 Canada cricket tournament

Digital terrestrial broadcaster FreeSports has acquired exclusive free-to-air rights in the UK to this year’s edition of cricket’s Global T20 Canada.

The broadcaster also had rights to the inaugural edition of the tournament, held in 2018.

Under the format, six teams face each other in a league phase, with the top four teams qualifying for the playoffs.

Last year’s champions, Vancouver Knights, will play Toronto Nationals in the opening match on July 25.

The tournament runs until August 11.

FreeSports also holds live broadcast rights in the UK to the European Cricket League three-day event from July 29.
