French Cycling Federation seals rights deals

The French Cycling Federation (FFC) has awarded rights in France to public-service broadcaster France Télévisions and the Eurosport France division of sports broadcaster Eurosport.

The rights will run for five years, from 2016 to 2020, and cover different championships operated by the FFC, including cyclo-cross, road, BMX, mountain bike and track cycling.

France Télévisions and Eurosport submitted a joint bid for the rights and the FFC studied “proposals that had been submitted by different broadcasters”.

France Télévisions, a long-term partner of the FFC, will share rights to some events with Eurosport and will show exclusive coverage of other events, the federation said, without specifying a precise split.

France Télévisions will continue to exploit the rights on the France 3 channel.
