Glasgow politician urges Masters Games bid

Scottish politician Bob Doris has encouraged his government to consider hosting the 2021 World Masters Games.

Doris has forwarded the suggestion to Glasgow city council leader Gordon Matheson and Scottish minister for sport Shona Robison, as well as lodging a motion in the Scottish parliament.

Glasgow will host the Commonwealth Games next year and possibly the Youth Olympics in 2018. Mr Doris said: "Achieving the hat trick by hosting the World Masters Games in 2021 would cement our position on the world map as a sporting city."

The World Masters Games is reportedly due to attract 50,000 visitors and €100 million to this year’s hosts Turin.
