Glory kicks on with Spike TV

Glory Sports International, the parent company of kickboxing promotion Glory World Series, has exercised its renewal clause with Spike TV to retain the US pay-television channel as its television partner through 2015.

Glory and Spike TV initially partnered under a “multi-year” rights partnership in June last year.

News of the renewal comes at the same time as Glory confirmed the appointment of Jon Franklin as its new chief executive.

As president of The Sports and Entertainment Company, Franklin has been heavily involved in the production, programming, sponsorship and logistical elements for Glory’s American events.

The global series is still to confirm its next move on the back of Glory 17 in Los Angeles in June, but Franklin said announcements are forthcoming over an October date in the US and he anticipates a long-standing relationship with Spike TV.

“We are going to be back in the end of October,” Franklin told the MMAMania.com website. “We are still sorting the television date and the location. We have talked with Spike and we are going to clear a date at the end of October to be back at it, that will be in the United States. And then the plan from there is to announce a few more dates in the next 12 months, going forward from there. We are very excited. We think Spike is a great partner and we look forward to a very long-term relationship with them.”
