GMM Grammy seals J-League deal in Thailand

Thai media conglomerate GMM Grammy has acquired rights for the J-League, the top-tier Japanese domestic football league, in a five-year deal, from 2012 to 2016.

GMM Grammy has shown a number of live games from the 2012 J-League season, which kicked off in March, while negotiations have been ongoing.

The addition of the J-League bolsters a portfolio of rights which includes the German Bundesliga, English League Cup and Football League, and the Uefa Euro 2012 tournament. GMM Grammy is also expected to compete for English Premier League rights when they come on to the market either late this year or next year.
