GolTV takes Venezuelan Primera División to US market

US pay-television broadcaster GolTV has acquired exclusive rights in the country to the Primera División, the top division of domestic football in Venezuela.

As part of the multi-year agreement, GolTV will show the biggest match from the Primera División each week and will also broadcast a weekly highlights programme. The games will be aired in both English and Spanish.

“The acquisition of Venezuela’s best match of the week is part of our mission to bring GolTV viewers the very best of professional soccer,” Constantino Voulgaris, GolTV’s executive vice-president of programming and new business development, said.

“GolTV’s programming strategy is multidimensional. We are putting greater focus on the quality of the content and acquiring only the best leagues or the best teams within their respective leagues.”

In addition to the newly acquired Venezuelan matches, GolTV also broadcasts weekly matches from top leagues including Brazil, Germany, Mexico, Portugal, Scotland and Uruguay.
