Hennessy Sports forges YouTube partnership for Parker-Fury

Boxing promoter Hennessy Sports has entered into a wide-ranging partnership with video-sharing platform YouTube, through which this month’s WBO World Heavyweight Championship title fight between Joseph Parker and Hughie Fury will be streamed exclusively live in the UK and Ireland.

The fight, which takes place on September 23 at the Manchester Arena, will be available to watch on a pay-per-view basis at youtube.com/parkerfury.

A portion of the undercard will also be streamed for free before the Parker-Fury fight. The event will be made available for an advance purchase price of £9.99 (€10.88/$12.95) in the UK and €11.99 in Ireland until midnight on September 17, after which point the price will increase to £14.99 and €16.99, respectively.

Youtube.com/parkerfury will serve as the home of Hennessy Sports’ YouTube channel, which will be known as The Boxing Channel presented by Hennessy Sports.

Hennessy Sports’ chief executive Mick Hennessy said: “The Heavyweight Championship of the World is still the biggest prize in sport and can capture the imagination of the public like no other sport. For Fury v Parker, we decided to make this event innovative, forward thinking and really push out the boundaries.

“We've been talking to YouTube for months about bringing boxing to a wider audience through their platform, and are delighted to have found a way to achieve this.  The way TV viewing is consumed has altered rapidly in the last few years and we wanted to be at the forefront of that change in presenting this fight. This is the future of boxing.”

Hennessy Sports has also partnered with next-generation broadcaster and producer Little Dot Studios, which will manage its YouTube channel. The two parties will work together to grow Hennessy Sports’ YouTube audience and build its online and social identity.

Little Dot Studios will create content from Hennessy Sports’ archive, publish clips and highlights, and produce content in the build-up to the Parker-Fury fight such as live streams of press conferences, open workouts and the weigh-in.
