Iran set to receive new sports channels under IRIB plan

Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting, the country’s state broadcaster, has announced it will launch three new satellite television channels dedicated to sport.

The Tasnim news agency said that one of the channels, which are scheduled to launch in the coming months, will be focused solely on football.

The three channels are amongst eight new services that are set to be offered by IRIB. The other channels will focus on science and technology, economics, pilgrimage, culture and arts, and tourism.
