Just Women’s Sports garners $3.5m in seed funding

Women’s sports-focused media platform Just Women’s Sports has closed on a $3.5m (€2.88m) seed round of venture capital funding, an investment designed in part to close a sizable gap that company founders see between the consumer interest in women’s sports and available news coverage.

The funding was led by Will Ventures, a Massachusetts-based venture capital firm focusing on early-stage companies, with participation by several entities including the DraftKings-powered investment firm Drive by DraftKings, and Thirty Five Ventures, the investment vehicle of basketball superstar Kevin Durant and business partner Rich Kleiman, and a series of female athlete stars including Elena Delle Donne from the Women’s National Basketball Association and Hilary Knight from the Professional Women’s Hockey Players Association, among many others.
