Late Brazilian rights deal secured for World Para Athletics Championships

Brazilian pay-television broadcaster SporTV has acquired rights to the 2017 World Para Athletics Championships, which commence in London, England today (Friday).

The deal has been struck between the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) and media group Globo, SporTV’s parent company, and also includes the 2017 World Para Swimming Championships, which take place in Mexico City from September 29 to October 6.

The CPB secured the rights to the events from the International Paralympic Committee before passing them on to Globo. SporTV 2 and SporTV 3 will broadcast more than 40 hours of live coverage from London 2017, which runs through to July 23.

The Maquina do Esporte website added that the CPB will also live stream the event through its official channel on social media platform Facebook.
