Lega Basket, which operates the top division of basketball in Italy, will begin private discussions with two bidders for the competition’s rights.
The national body announced on its website that it would initiate discussions with state broadcaster Rai and media company RCS MediaGroup after discussing the bids during an assembly meeting.
The rights will cover three seasons, from 2015-16 to 2017-18.
There was no mention in the statement of a bid from pay-television broadcaster Sky Italia, which had previously been reported as interested in the rights.
