L’Équipe retains youth tournaments in Uefa rights portfolio

French free-to-air sports broadcaster L'Équipe has extended its deal with Uefa, European club football’s governing body, for rights to the European Under-19 Championship.

The three-season extension takes in the 2018 to 2020 editions of the annual national team tournament, for both its men’s and women’s events.

L'Équipe has broadcast the events for the past two years, with the 2018 tournaments set to take place next month in Finland for the men and Switzerland for the women.

Arnaud de Courcelles, director of the television division of L'Équipe, said: “With these rights and the arrival in September of the Nations League and qualifiers for the Euro 2020 and the 2022 (Fifa) World Cup, L'Équipe builds a new unencrypted football offer.”
