Liverpool’s LFCTV moves to subscription model

English Premier League football club Liverpool will alter its in-house television channel LFCTV from a free-to-air to subscription-based model when it relaunches next month.

The Liverpool Echo newspaper said LFCTV has been free-to-air since the collapse of pay-television broadcaster Setanta Sports’ UK business in 2009. From November 4, LFCTV will be offered as a subscription channel via pay-television operator BSkyB for £7 (€9/$11) a month in the UK or €9 a month in Ireland.

Liverpool said LFCTV will be launching in high definition on Sky, with an “all-new, bigger and better channel” to provide fans with exclusive content from inside the club 24 hours a day.

Broadcasting directly from a new interactive studio in the heart of Liverpool, subscribers will receive breaking news from the team's training base at Melwood, with regular news bulletins in addition to exclusive interviews with squad and staff, features from the archives and modern day, and in-depth documentaries.

LFCTV will also provide full replays of every first team game, exclusive broadcasts of pre-season fixtures and live coverage or highlights of all youth and Liverpool Ladies matches.
