Long-serving European Tour media chief exits organisation

Golf’s European Tour has said Mark Lichtenhein will step down from his role as its head of television, digital media and technology with immediate effect.

Lichtenhein joined the European Tour in 1999 from GolfWeb, a provider of golf-related content and interactive entertainment that is owned by US online sports media company SportsLine USA.

For the last eight years, Lichtenhein also served as joint managing director of European Tour Productions, a joint venture of the European Tour and the IMG agency.

During his time with European Tour Productions, he helped develop the Tour’s digital and television platforms, including the launch of the European Tour TV digital channel.

Despite his departure from the European Tour, Lichtenhein will retain his role as chairman of the Sports Rights Owners Coalition, an organisation that the Tour is a member of.
