Maloney latest to be axed in Sky’s boxing cull

UK pay-television broadcaster BSkyB will not renew a rights deal with boxing promoter Frank Maloney Promotions, according to the Sun.

Maloney’s deal, due to expire this month, covers eight events per year.

A report on the Boxing Scene website, citing the Sun report, said that Matchroom Sport is now the only boxing promoter with a rights deal with Sky for UK fights as the broadcaster scales back its coverage of the sport.

Frank Warren, Britain’s biggest boxing promoter, decided against renewing a deal with Sky last September and the broadcaster has not renewed an agreement with Hatton Promotions that was due to expire this month.
